Outstanding Hosting Company!

Outstanding technical support and customer service.

I switched to Hostwinds after my long time host was bought out by a major company and I was dumped into a lousy overseas host. I pulled my two main sites immediately - well I tried to pull them immediately, this new host lost them for three weeks. That gave me plenty of time to research hosts and I decided to go with Hostwinds. The tech support team handled the whole migration and did it quickly and with no issue.

I recently took back two sites that I previously managed, and immediately migrated to Hostwinds. Once again, they handled it quickly and efficiently. I did have a couple of issues but tech support was fantastic! They were efficient and patient, and best of all - friendly.

Good service with minor setup hiccups

Thus far everything seems good. I really like the online console is able to see the boot process. That was one of my requirements. The only issue I had is that my graphical terminal could attach to SFTP but no text was displayed in the terminal window. The issue seems to have resolved itself, so I appear to be good to go.

I found this host while looking for an alternative to my current host whose support was suddenly reduced and being charged for and my site was dropping throughout the day. Their online chat is constantly manned by people who can answer all questions. They action everything you ask and are polite and helpful. I placed my order just before I went to bed and they had delivered a VPS with Plesk installed and ready to use before I got up. A* for communication and delivery.

Signed up and my cost doubled at end of 1st month, the great "deal" apparently only lasted for 30 days. I've been trying to cancel ever since. You have to open a ticket that has to be approved and confirmed, and even after that you still get billed and have to do it all again. I've been trying to cancel for 4 months now and they still keep sending emails for me to confirm this or that, I finally just removed my payment info and am about to do a chargeback, just a huge pain to deal with.

Honestly, the only reason I chose Hostwinds is because other hosts don't allow adult content and because I paid for the shared hosting which didn't even allow to create the site let even use.

Awful experience

Awful experience - more problems than I ever had with a host in my life.
It all started with super slow site speed (which was acceptable to their support). While this is already but, what was even worse is that they put me on an IP that has been blacklisted for being associated with email spam. That means that every email I sent to clients ended up bouncing or ending in clients Spam folders. They tried for months to resolve this without luck (I'm not even sure they really tried or just wanted to keep me past the 30 Day window). Worst of all they were unwilling to simply move me to a clean IP ("Sorry to let you know that, the IPs are assigned to account from a pool of IPs. So we can't guarantee that the IP is not listed on any RBLs."). Thanks for nothing. Screw that. When I cancelled my services I only got a pro-rata "credit" for the residual time prepaid... not a refund. So now my money is stuck in a company that I would never do business with. Great. I would recommend everyone I know to avoid this one. There are far better places out there. The fact that Trustpilot flags fake reviews for its Hostwinds page does not surprise me one bit!!!

I hope paypal can get back to me ! Its 3 days already and nothing from hostwinds !! Be careful !!

For the last month, I've given Hostwinds EVERY benefit of my doubt, but I'm now at wits' end. Below is the actual script from their so called "support" and is really a classic example of how they choose to tout a < 3 hour response time. It should make you wonder what planet they operate from. This is only the latest response, but is representative of what I went through with migration, OpCaching, DNS redirection, SSL certificate install, and email forwarding (2+ weeks and still unresolved... the straw that broke the camel's back). This should all be pretty basic for someone who's in the business... BUYER BEWARE!!! If I could give them 0 stars, I would because THEY DESERVE IT! Incidentally the ongoing email forwarding problem was originally reported 5/2/20 and had 19th communiques before they said it was resolved on 5/14/20, that first go around... it's really hard for me to believe these people can actually sleep at night?

Ustedes no pueden ademas de facturar servicios que yo jamas e usado valiendose de artimañas tales como el pago automatico que yo confiando en ustedes tenía. Asi que vallan devolviendo lo que no es suyo y den orden a paypal que esos servicios jamas se usaron que retire los cargos contra mi tarjeta.
Aparte de eso ustedes no pueden bloquear la transferencia de un domnio cuando ya han pasado mas de 60 días y yo nos le devo nada . yo no voy a cejar en denunciar sus formas aki y donde sea.

I claim here the services that you have billed to my Paypal account with the mail aragonservic .... they have done it fraudulently since, as you know, I did not contract those services, which were created and not only those if not 52 more services for a hack of my password that I have on your server. You can not invoice services that I have never used using tricks such as the automatic payment that I trusted you had. So go back by returning what is not yours and order paypal that these services were never used to drop the charges against my card.
Apart from that you cannot block the transfer of a domain when more than 60 days have passed and I did not eat anything. I'm not going to stop denouncing their ways here and anywhere.

I want to warn anyone considering…

I want to warn anyone considering Hostwinds to understand how terrible of a company they really are. The tech support guys are incompetent, and one of them is kind of rude, too. the absolute worst business decision in my all of my life was getting a resellers account with Hostwinds. From the very start, it was nothing but trouble. It was 2 maybe 3 days before I ever had access to it, then it worked poorly, to be generous. I installed a whmcs script that worked perfectly and some genius screwed my account up and I was without access another couple of days.

Mishap after mishap, and I went from feeling bad for the company having to deal with an incompetent tech support department to extreme frustration that someone in authority just didn't fire every single one of them and start fresh.

On 03/27/2020, unable to sleep not knowing what kind of sheer stupidity I would deal with next, I sent billing a letter via support that I was closing my account and not to bill me again for what Hostwinds surely must be joking over when they refer to it as services. Here it is a little bit over a month ago and this awful awful company continues to try to bill me for a 3rd rate service I never even had the opportunity to use in the 3 weeks I had it. Now my debit card fees are piling up since I suspected that the incompetence wasn't restricted to the tech support alone, and I was right, of course.

This company, through and through, should be ashamed of how they conduct business. Shameful people have shameful ways, though, I suppose, and that's simply too much to expect. I can't get them to close my account, I can't get them to stop trying to bill me, I can't get them to stop emailing, and I can't get them to refund my overdraft fees along with my original payment because they won't honor their 30 day guarantee. (It just covers their other products, amazingly enough.) I can't get them to stop emailing me, either.

This is absolutely the worst excuse of a company I've ever experienced in my life. At this point, I don't care if Hostwinds refunds my money, or not, closes my account, or not, stops contacting me, or not, even though I have clearly stated that are not to contact me again. It's much more important that any prospective customer understand the very real risks they face doing business with a company who treats people in such a manner.

I do apologize to any good and decent people who may work there and I hope that the time comes that it will you who are the decision makers there and then you can work for a business to be proud of. As it is, you simply do not. If you have only been there for 7 moths, I will apologize to you, also, recognizing that you have no responsibility for the shabby treatment .

I purchased white label reseller…

I purchased white label reseller hosting and it was horrible from day one.. First my domain couldn't connect to their name servers so they made custom name servers and that fixed the problem then when I tried to connect my whmcs it couldn't connect to the server I made a ticket with technical support and their reply to use their white label reseller module I paid to use whmcs not the reseller module.. If you want to spend days with technical support making tickets then this is the host for you!! Time is money and they wasted my time!!!

Cheating time

I edit my review, because im trying test their whitelabel service and its become nightmare for me.
I pay for test 1 month, and its only active less than one month.
I think when I pay at February 21, it will ended in March 21. At March 12, theres email notify to pay, 17 March they suspended my service.
And their ticket is so slow respond.
I can't imagine if im running on many clients, and this corrupt and cheating time is happen.
What a nightmare hosting dude!

This is my first bad review about…

This is my first bad review about hosting. On December 14, 2019, I ordered a vpn plan from hostwinds. From the beginning there was a problem because I ordered a server from the Netherlands and got from the USA.
On the same day I bought 2 other hosting one from Hostinger and one Cloudways in order to check which hosting would be the best for my online store. Hostwinds were definitely the worst. The next day I sent a request to delete the hosting. I didn't log in to the client area anymore and I was convinced that hosting was deleted as per my request.
After a month I was charged again for the next month. I have requested a refund. I received that a month earlier they sent me an email that I have to confirm the request to cancel hosting again (unfortunately the email went into spam).
I sent them three more requests and confirm that I want to terminate hosting and ask to erase all my personal and paypal data from their system. On one query I got the answer that the request is incomplete and on 2 other support tickets I didn't get the answer and the tickets are on hold. To date, I have not received any refund. And the worst thing is that they still have access to my payment details and I'm afraid that again next month they will be charged for hosting costs. Avoid Hostwind
